All Staff Renew Paediatric First Aid Training in line with New 2025 Guidance
Brighstone Preschool team completes accredited first aid training in line with the government’s updated EYFS Nutrition and Safety Guidance.
TL;DR:
Our team has completed accredited Paediatric First Aid training, keeping every practitioner up to date with best practice in child safety and care. This renewal also supports the government’s new 2025 EYFS Nutrition Guidance, which strengthens safety measures around mealtimes and allergy management. We’re proud to stay ahead of these important changes, ensuring every child at Brighstone Preschool is safe, healthy, and well cared for.

Dear Brighstone Preschool families,
We are pleased to share some important news: all of our staff have recently renewed their Paediatric First Aid (PFA) qualifications through accredited training. We believe there is no substitute for up-to-date skills when it comes to your children’s safety and well-being.
This refresher training ensures that every adult in our team is ready to respond promptly and confidently in any medical or emergency scenario, including during daily routines, outdoor play, and outings.
This renewal is also aligned with changes in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and nutrition guidance:
From September 2025, early years providers will be required to have regard to the new EYFS Nutrition Guidance, ensuring that all meals, snacks and drinks offered are healthy, balanced and nutritious unless there is a justified reason not to.
Under the strengthened Safer Eating rules, a member of staff with valid paediatric first aid must always be present when children are eating — to help prevent choking and to act immediately in the event of an allergic reaction.
The updated guidance also emphasises greater vigilance around food allergies, intolerances, and choking hazards, and more rigorous communication with parents about dietary needs. Anaphylaxis UK+2Blossom Educational+2
At Brighstone Preschool, your child’s safety is always our top priority. By renewing our first aid training now, we ensure we remain well ahead of the curve when regulatory changes come into effect. We remain committed to providing a nurturing, secure, and responsive environment for all our children.
If you have any questions about what the renewed training means in practice, or about our food and nutrition policies, please feel free to speak with one of our practitioners or with me directly.
Warm regards,
Jayne Hill.
